Ready to tackle an epic journey of stunning views with a few hills thrown into the mix just to make it spicy? Look no further!
Allow me to introduce you to the Spanish side of the Portuguese Coastal Camino. This 150-kilometer trek from Santa Maria de Oia to Santiago de Compostela will take you along some of the most breathtaking coastline in Northern Spain and then inland along the peaceful and tranquil Spiritual Variant.
We will walk along beautiful white sand beaches and conjure up a couple of amazing side adventures. We promise that we won’t judge you if you end up drinking one too many local vinos on the way – after all, what’s a journey without a little bit of indulgence.
Not only will you be able to soak up the amazing views, but we are also going to make you sweat a little. This isn’t all a leisurely beach stroll. I’m not going to lie, we have some hills to climb…and you have to carry all your stuff, but you’ll also be able to dig deep into your inner self and discover the hidden gems within. Who knows, maybe you’ll even find the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything….or at the very least get amazing photos and cause some serious social media envy.
Don’t worry, the rewards of this journey are totally worth it, from devouring mouth-watering seafood at local restaurants to basking in your sense of accomplishment in Plaza Obradoiro in Santiago. So, lace up your carefully chosen footwear and join the adventure – it’s time for a slightly different Camino experience.

- Day 1 . Oia . If you have spent some time traveling or are just plain jet lagged, this gives you a couple of days to get yourself sorted, do your laundry.
- Day 2 . Oia . Check out the ruins of Santa Tecla, get a message and/or do some other cool stuff.
- Day 3 . Oia to Baiona . 16kms . We have a special treat for us tonight. You will receive special instructions on this once you make your booking.
- Day 4 . Baiona to Nigran . 13kms . This is a walk in the park…or along the beach as the case may be. Explore Baiona take in the two amazing medieval churches and then wander down the beach to Patos and maybe take a surfing lesson. You know, fun stuff…
- Day 5 . Nigran to Vigo . 17kms . This busy port city is great to explore on your own. There’s the old town or new shops. Be careful though, remember you have to carry all your stuff.
- Day 6 . Vigo to Redondela . 16kms . Eat squid or pulpo, explore the narrow streets, check out the architecture.
- Day 7 . Redondela to Pontevedra . 20kms . The is the place where the famous church of the Virgen de Camino is located.
- Day 8 . Pontevedra to Combarro . 11kms . Today we branch off onto the Spiritual Variant. Said to be, among other things, the most beautiful part of the Portuguese Camino.
- Day 9 . Combarro to Armenteira . 10kms . This is the Spiritual part, in the spiritual variant, because you are going to be praying that you will make it up the hill. We have been building up to this point…in everyone’s life a few hills you must climb. It’s worth it though.
- Day 10 . Armenteira to Villanueva de Arosa . 23kms . Ruta de Pedra e da Agua, The Route of Stone and Water is amazing then we are back to the coast and the beautiful views that comes along with it.
- Day 11 . Villanueva de Arosa to Padron . 34kms . DON’T PANIC! I’m not trying to kill you. Here we get on a boat and follow the 31 km route the disciples of St. James may have taken to Padron. Then we walk the 3kms into the city. (You were a little scared for a second…admit it…)
- Day 12 . Padron to O’Milladoiro . 15kms . We are not going to go straight into Santiago from Padron because we want to enjoy the last night on the Camino. We are going to eat some good food and drink some good wine and reminisce about our journey to this point.
- Day 13 . O’Milladoiro to Santiago de Compostela . 8kms . This is it! The end. We made it. Let’s Celebrate! Wanna walk on the roof of the Cathedral? Go to Mass? Get your Compostela? Eat more food? Get the inside tour of one of the biggest monasteries in Spain by someone who lives in it? Let’s do it! Tomorrow you go home…maybe…
